Travel Advice for Colorado That You Should Know
Feb 01, 2023 By Sean William

For a long time, Colorado has been at the top of many tourists' must-see lists. Colorado has the potential for adventure because of its abundance of mountains, rivers, and waterfalls. Even yet, there are a lot of misconceptions regarding the state of Colorado. It's breathtaking, gorgeous, rugged, and surprisingly gentle. However, going to Colorado is more complex than just picking up and leaving unless you leave Denver.

Layer up

Especially in the mountains, the weather in Colorado may change fast, so be prepared with clothes. Bring appropriate cold-weather attire if you plan on visiting during the winter, and always pack a waterproof outer layer, fleece, a warm cap, and a hat with brim.

Keep Yourself Hydrated.

Carry a water bottle with you. Colorado's high altitudes, dry air, bright sunshine, and high rates of outdoor activity make it easy to become dehydrated. Also, drinking enough water can speed up your body's adjustment to the higher altitude. Filling up your water bottle or the Hydro Flask instead of buying a new one every time you become thirsty is better for the environment and your wallet.

Plan And Reserve Your Rental Car.

Travelers will find that having a car is a massive convenience for getting to and from most sights and activities on their itinerary. Colorado's airports and towns are serviced by all the major international rental car agencies, and reservations will provide you with a greater selection of automobiles. The highways in Colorado are among the best in the country. Unless you're going into the backcountry or anticipate driving through significant snow, you don't need to spend the extra money on a four-wheel-drive vehicle. If you must travel during the colder months, stock up on food, drink, and blankets before setting out.

Purchase Your Professional Sporting Event Tickets In Advance.

The Denver Broncos (NFL), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Rockies (MLB), and Colorado Rapids (MLS) are just a few of the professional sports teams based in Colorado. Tickets to Broncos and Avalanche games sell out quickly, so if you plan to attend one, you should do it as soon as possible as you confirm your travel dates. Bleacher seats at a Colorado Rockies game (also known as the Rockpile) only cost $4.

Verify Airline Policies To Be Safe

Before booking your flight to Colorado, research the airline's luggage policies to see whether they will allow you to carry your snowboard, mountains bike, skis or other large sports equipment. While most airlines no longer charge extra for large bags, and many do not insist on complicated cases, it's always best to be safe than sorry.

Take A Swig Of The Regional Beer.

Craft beer, notably hoppy Indian Pale Ale, is popular in Colorado. It would be a pity to pass up the chance to drink any excellent local beer when it's offered. Coors Beer, made in nearby Golden, Colorado, is at least a decent option if you must imbibe in the brews of the mega breweries.

Keep It Casual

There are hardly ever any folks here who bother to dress up. Even though we like to dress up a bit for the theater, no one else does, so the atmosphere is casual. You may go right from the path to a nice meal. It's especially useful in the winter, when icy areas may send someone in heels careening downhill quite rapidly.

Be Careful Outside.

Coloradoans deeply respect nature, and it's easy to see why: the state is filled with breathtaking landscapes, from snow-capped mountains to rushing rivers to towering mesas and sun-drenched plains. Respect fire bans and 'no swimming' signs, keep to the designated pathways, pack away all trash (yours and any you find), and refrain from carving your initials or other identifying marks into rocks and trees.

Watch For Thunderstorms In The Afternoon

During the summer, Colorado is prone to strong afternoon thunderstorms. If you want to go on a trek or perform any other outdoor activity without worrying about getting caught out in the rain or being struck by lightning, you should go first thing in the morning. The need for plan flexibility is a year-round possibility, not just a winter or summer phenomenon. You should wait for the weather to clear before setting off on your travels, as snowstorms and thunderstorms are always possible.

You Must Beware of Altitude Sickness

Many tourists in Colorado get mild or severe altitude sickness due to the higher elevation. Take in lots of fluids upon arrival. Plan at least 24–48 hours of non-strenuous exercise before heading out on a trek or to one of Colorado's ski resorts. To pass the time until we can get you here, there are several excellent museums in the area.
